Convention has it that in order to plot the lines of flux around a magnet, iron filings or a plotting compass are used but this can only show the field in 2 dimensions, but using the Magnetic Field Finder it becomes apparent immediately that any magnetic field has depth and height and is in fact a sphere around any magnet. The device comprises of a tiny magnet suspended within an ingenious double hinge (sometimes called a gimble) and by simp|y moving this towards and around any magnet the 3D field is revealed.
