  1. DaVinci Collection Catapult Machine

    DaVinci Collection Catapult Machine

Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian Renaissance polymath who had a keen interest in invention, architecture, science, and engineering. Over the centuries, many manuscripts left from Da Vinci have been found; some of which have been invented, but others were not possible at that time, thus, he left these manuscripts and hoped that people could improve them to create something better in the future. Based on those manuscripts, this DIY kit allows us to recreate da Vinci’s vision and learn about the different parts and principles of motion involved in its operation. Catapults originated in ancient times as weapons used in siege warfare; designed to throw rough and heavy rocks towards enemy lines and fortifications. Leonardo da Vinci sought to increase the destructive power of the weapon, but also improved practicality and operation. With this easy to assemble plastic kit, you can build your very own fully functional catapult, inspired by da Vinci’s designs. His design incorporated flexible limbs (like a crossbow) that stored mass amounts of potential energy. This surpassed the fundamental operational principles and power of existing catapults, thus increasing the driving force of thrown projectiles. Features: • 28-piece easy to assemble plastic kit on sprues • 6 Large and 4 small projectiles • Instruction booklet with easy to follow building instructions Learn More
  2. DaVinci Collection Flying Machine

    DaVinci Collection Flying Machine

Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian Renaissance polymath who had a keen interest in invention, architecture, science, and engineering. Over the centuries, many manuscripts left from Da Vinci have been found; some of which have been invented, but others were not possible at that time, thus, he left these manuscripts and hoped that people could improve them to create something better in the future. Based on those manuscripts, this DIY kit allows us to recreate da Vinci’s vision and learn about the different parts and principles of motion involved in its operation. The Flying Machine was designed to be controlled by a man lying horizontally using his arms and legs to move the wings. Although it never became practical, the Flying Machine was invented in the 15th century by Leonardo da Vinci. With this easy to assemble plastic kit, you can build your very own flying machine, inspired by da Vinci’s designs. It demonstrated a good combination of natural and mechanical movement. Features: • 30-piece easy to assemble plastic kit on sprues • Plastic cogs • Instruction booklet Learn More
  3. DaVinci Collection Flying Pendulum Clock Construction Kit

DaVinci Collection Flying Pendulum Clock Construction Kit

Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian Renaissance polymath who was interested in invention, architecture, science, and engineering. Up to now, many manuscripts left from Da Vinci have been found. Some of the them have been invented, but some were not possible at that time, thus, he left these manuscripts and hoped that people could improve them to create something better in the future. Based on the manuscripts, the DIY kits allow us to learn the parts of each machine and principles of motion. Leonardo da Vinci was fascinated by escapement mechanisms that measure time, he studied a number of them. Based on his work, the kit uses the laws of motion and a “flying” pendulum escapement to keep accurate time. The pendulum’s weight acts as the clock’s power source. To speed up or slow the clock, simply adjust the weight-balance of the pendulum by adding or removing weights. Learn More
  4. DaVinci Collection Rolling Ball Timer

    DaVinci Collection Rolling Ball Timer

Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian Renaissance polymath who was interested in invention, architecture, science, and engineering. Up to now, many manuscripts left from Da Vinci have been found. Some of the them have been invented, but some were not possible at that time, thus, he left these manuscripts and hoped that people could improve them to create something better in the future. Based on the manuscripts, the DIY kits allow us to learn the parts of each machine and principles of motion. The da Vinci Rolling Ball Timer is based on a sketch of an escapement mechanism drawn by Leonardo da Vinci. The kit uses the principles of gravity and kinetics to measure the passage of time. It employs precision gears to power a platform in a “see-saw” pattern that propels a rolling ball. When complete, it exhibits concepts relating to the laws of motion and delivers hours of entertainment. Learn More
