Abalone is a variety of mollusks. It has ear-shaped shells which consist of microscopic pieces of calcium carbonate, piled on top of each other.

This ear-shaped shell is more commonly known as Mother-of-Pearl.

There are more than a hundred varieties of abalone across the world. They are usually discovered in colder, coastal waters like those belonging to New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, and Japan.

Abalone shells are often used in jewellery making due to their charming, iridescent appearance.

Size: Unsized - varies from a fingernail width to 1.5 inches.
